COPES offers a unique opportunity for community members in Eastern Oregon to receive health and life skills education courses free of charge. The courses below are open to the public and require registration prior to attending. Nurturing Parenting
For Parents & Adolescents
This 12-week course is designed to repair struggling parent-teen relationships. Parents and teens will attend classes together each week to learn skills in communication, relationship building, stress and anger management, and so much more. Each class, teens and parents will receive separate instruction concurrently, then join together to meet as a family unit.
Parents and teens ages 12-18 are encouraged to attend. This class is FREE to all.
Classes start September 16th and will run every Monday from 5:00 PM - 7:30 PM at Hermiston High School. **Childcare will be provided for children under 12.

QPR Suicide Intervention
This training teaches the three simple steps any one can learn to save a life. QPR is a first aid suicide intervention practice. In this training you will learn to recognize warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to Question, Persuade, and Refer someone to help.

Naloxone (Narcan) Training
In this training you will learn to recognize the signs of an overdose and the steps to take as a first responder. We will cover when and how to administer naloxone, the life-saving opioid overdose treatment.
This training is 30 to 60 minutes in length.

Substance Use Education for Teens
This 8 week course is designed as an early intervention program for teens and young adults who are beginning to face the struggles of substance use. This curriculum follows the Matrix Model; Outpatient Treatment Manual from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). This course is taught by a certified Peer Support Specialist and can be taught in schools, or at our COPES 4 Youth Peer Centers.
